Trench is TOP(Twenty One Pilots) last album, it was published in 2018 after their hiatus. This album represents the depression and anxiety that Tyler suffers, venting it into a fiction story, that still doesn’t end, fans continue doing numerous theories,following the clues, and being an elemental part of the story.

Tyler Joseph made through the years concept albums, which means that his albums follow a story, from Vessel to Trench. So what’s the story?

It’s necessary to understand the context on the album Blurryface that was released on 2015, it deals with insecurities and anxiety. Blurryface is a character that is inside Tyler’s head, and has an important quote that represents him perfectly “My name is Blurryface and I care what you think”.

Before the annoucement of Trech, a website called “dmaorg” appeared, which content information about the upcoming album, it had a letter that was signed by the name of “-Clancy”, this person was trying to escape the city of Dema. This mysterious city is ruled by nine bishops who control its citizens through their religion “Vialism”, Clancy was accompained by a group of people called “Banditos”.

Tyler’s real words on what is trench for him: “Trench is a world, this place that’s mostly made of trees and rocks and uncharted territory and wild terrain, and at the very bottom of the world is a city called Dema. Dema is the city that in this record, in this narrative, I’m from and I feel the need to escape, to leave, and more than anything the record represents that feeling.”

He wants to show the feelings of being stucked between worlds, the exact transition in getting out of depression and starting to get help, to get better. In the song Jumpsuit he says “I can’t believe how much I hate
Pressures of a new place roll my way” but it also says that someone is going to save or protect him, this is when Josh (drummer of Tøp) enters, for Tyler is more than his best friend, is the person who saved his life. On the songs of Trench “Smithereens”, “Bandito” and “My Blood” he talks about him and how his grateful for his friendship.

In conclusion Trench is the continuation of Blurryface, they included their fans to be a part of this amazing story. It was a way of Tyler to let his feelings out and move on, by making this they saved a lot of fans and people that were giving up,it is very brave and talented to vent psychological problems this way . As Tyler says “Stay Alive”.

Alternative music is a term that emcompasses all type of music that contradict the commonly accepted official models. It counts with no differentiating features that are found in another musical styles. The term first appeared in the Mid 1980s and it´s very popular in the percent of people that know how to listen to good music.

The alternative music may not be heard like another genres, but It will always express more feelings than the others genres, cause the bands and singers that sing alternative music, most of the times use their own experiences to inspire their songs, so the song is full of feeling and it will also transmit that feelings to their crowd.

Their songs are perfect for the persons who know when and how to listen to them, No matter the times you listen to them, they won´t be related directly to you until you are in the right time to hear it, that time will feel different from the other times, you will feel the voice entering your soul, the melody will make you remember the experience that relates to that song, and you won´t feel alone, you are only going to feel that you are understanded and after that you will feel happiness.

So to conclude this, if you feel very sad or very happy, the best genre for you is “Alternative”, it will help you living and start enjoying your life, you will notice that you can´t stop listening to them. This means that you are healing your past wounds and changing your life, cause the word “Alternative” means to stop following the common answer and look for a new one, in this case, it means to give another way to understand your life and help you living it.
